Chemical Engineer

Melissa Yuassa is a Patent Specialist in the Life Sciences Practice at Gusmão & Labrunie. She holds a degree in Chemical Engineering and a postgraduate qualification in Environmental Engineering from the University of São Paulo (USP). With more than 15 years of experience in Intellectual Property, she has built her career at specialized Intellectual Property firms and joined the firm in 2021.

 

Her practice encompasses patent prosecution and complex technical advisory work, including prior art searches, patent drafting, infringement analyses, patentability assessments, freedom-to-operate opinions, and technical support in patent litigation.

 

Melissa advises Brazilian and international clients in the pharmaceutical, chemical, agrochemical, cosmetics, and food industries. She also contributes to the professional development of Intellectual Property practitioners as a lecturer in courses offered by the Brazilian Association of Industrial Property Agents (ABAPI).
