Laís Picanço Souza holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from UERJ and specializes in patents. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Polymer Science and Technology at UFRJ. She has worked in the field of intellectual property since 2019 and joined Gusmão & Labrunie in 2026.

Her practice focuses on the management of patent applications in Brazil and abroad, including prior art searches, patent drafting, strategies for responding to office actions, preparation of oppositions, and infringement and freedom-to-operate analyses. She has experience handling highly complex matters across the chemical, agrochemical, petrochemical, materials, and pharmaceutical industries.
